Danish supermarket chain to accept international cards
There's good news for holidaymakers heading to Scandinavia this summer - a Danish supermarket chain has re-thought its international credit card policy.
According to the electronic payment service PBS, stores under the Dansk Supermarked group including Bilka, Netto and Fotex will start accepting major international credit card payments from May.
Henrik Kirketerp of Dansk Supermarked said: "In recent years we have experienced a growing interest in this type of payment.
"We want to be the preferred shopping destination of customers and as a result want to offer them the choice between paying with cash, Dankort [a Danish debit card] and international credit cards."
The retail giant operates more than 1,200 shops in five countries.
Its decision is likely to go some way towards realising PBS' ambition that two out of three Danish shops will permit international payment cards by 2012.
In other supermarket credit card news, an East Dulwich Somerfield store announced this week it is pairing up with police to combat card crime following a cloning incident in its shop late last year, the South London Press reports.
