Credit problems 'can be solved by report request'
People declined credit should request copies of their credit card report, home insurer LV= has advised.
Credit problems 'can be solved by report request'
Emma Holyer, a spokesperson for LV=, said that increasing numbers of customers are exposed to phishing scams due to online banking, and that many customers had been incorrectly linked to those with poor credit ratings.
Ms Holyer advised that anyone who is regularly refused credit must clear their record from incorrect details otherwise they may not receive credit in the future because they have been turned down so often.
She said: "If you do find you are being turned down for no reason contact ourselves or a credit agency. Check for symptoms of something more serious and that it's not just a one off, because the cost of ID fraud to you personally can be quite significant."
According to research by LV=, credit problems have been experienced by 46 per cent of adults in the UK.
The study also showed that up to half a million adults have been 'blacklisted' on account of being targeted by identity fraudsters.
