In an article for the Guardian, Laura Howard recommends using such a payment solution could be beneficial to those looking to cut costs as the ongoing economic slowdown continues to make its presence felt.
She explains that booking a break on a credit card is a wise move, providing consumers can pay off the balance when the bill arrives.
Mike Pickard, head of travel insurance at financial services provider esure, tells the publication that using a credit card can provide protection should things go awry.
"If the airline, tour operator or hotel goes bust before you set off, you will be compensated for the entire amount under the Consumer Credit Act, even if you just used your credit card for a small deposit," he explained.
The Consumer Credit Act requires most businesses which offer services or good on credit, or who lend money to people, to be licensed by the Office of Fair Trading.
