Credit cards announce festive offers

Cardholders looking for a bargain this year to help them deal with the dreaded Christmas shopping bill would be wise to look to the wide variety of credit card deals being introduced in anticipation of the festive season.

This is according to Curtis Arnold of Card Ratings, who claims that special promotions can help consumers stretch their budgets, eliminate interest payments and even claim back some of the cash spent on presents this year.

Mr Arnold identifies the Capital One card provider as one of the strongest products this year, with the company choosing to increase its offerings through its Perk Central shopping portal rather than introducing any specific holiday promotions.

Credit cards that offer some form of reward - be it cashback, air miles or loyalty points - are being advocated by a large number of experts this year as an excellent way to reduce the damage caused by Christmas present shopping.

Demand for cashback cards in particular has skyrocketed this year with a recent Defaqto survey revealing that shoppers are increasingly coming round to the idea of hard cash as a reward.
