Credit card supplier charts optimism
The recession has not brought down the financial ambitions of young people, a leading credit card supplier has stated.
According to credit card supplier Alliance & Leicester, the average earning expectations of 16 to 21 year-old males is over £40,000 within ten years, while seven in ten hope to be on the property ladder by the age of 30.
Meanwhile, 30 per cent of young people are hoping to be debt free before the age of 34.
Andy Bayes, Abbey and Alliance & Leicester current accounts head, commented: "With so many young people looking to maintain their financial and lifestyle aspirations during these tough economic conditions, it is essential that those looking to start their career have access to good sources of advice, information and inspiration."
The credit card firm recently launched its Master Class Programme, geared towards offering young people celebrity mentors who can advise them on financial issues.
Denise Van Outen was named the second mentor on the programme by the bank recently.
