Credit card provider Virgin Money: October is the most dangerous month on the roads
Credit card provider Virgin Money has found that October is the most dangerous month on the roads.
This is because drivers have to adjust to darker days and the clocks go back meaning that night falls earlier.
According to figures from the credit card provider, insurance claims in October are 25% higher than the average, with the most accidents in the month likely to occur on the 20th.
Grant Bather, spokesman at Virgin Money, said: "Traditionally Christmas time has been seen as the most dangerous time for drivers but our research shows that autumn into winter is treacherous for motorists."
Virgin Money is also currently offering a credit card with a typical rate of 16.6% APR variable.
Virgin credit card holders also benefit from 0% on balance transfers for the first 16 months from the date on which the account is opened, with a 2.98% handling fee.
