Credit card "plastic perks" examined
While many credit cards have traditionally offered a wide range of benefits to users - such as airline tickets, rewards and car rentals - there are a number of new "plastic perks" that some cards now offer, it has been noted.
ABC consumer specialist Ric Romero explains some credit card providers are responding to the turbulence in the global economic markets and changing the services they offer accordingly.
He notes American Express now provides a number of money management tools to help people make certain they pay their bills on time and do not incur any late charges.
Speaking to the ABC site, financial analyst Ken Clark states: "The trend in credit cards is moving away from rewards that are really leisure-based - free airline tickets, free hotel stays - to things that are more practical."
Meanwhile, the Associated Press recently recommended users give lots of attention to details sent by providers of rewards & cashback credit cards.
