Credit card lending increased in June
Credit card lending increased by a net £0.2 billion in June, according to new statistics released today.
According to Bank of England data, consumer credit also increased by a net £0.1 billion, which is in line with the average of the previous six months.
Consumer credit includes credit card lending and other loans and advances, also covering loans made through government student support schemes.
Meanwhile, the net lending secured on property was below the previous six month average, but unchanged from the previous month.
The data also showed an increase in the number of approvals for house purchase and remortgaging.
Lending to individuals in total increased by £0.4 billion, lower than the increase the previous month, and less than the past six month average.
Meanwhile the current bank rate remains at 0.5% and is up for review on August 6th.
