Credit card holders 'should note when their statements are due during postal strikes'
Credit card holders have been offered advice by the UK Payments Council on managing payments during the postal strike.
Credit card holders 'should note when their statements are due during postal strikes'
The council suggests credit card holders should make a note of when their statements are due, and if they think one may be due they should check with their supplier.
Card holders should also contact their credit card company if they have recently sent a cheque to pay their bill and are worried about it getting there on time.
According to the Payments Council, credit card holders should also consider setting up a direct debit payment for at least the minimum payment on their credit card bill.
Card holders can usually do this with relative ease by telephone or online.
The national postal strikes are planned on October 22nd and 23rd.
Royal Mail said of the two strikes: "Whilst this is a further, serious development, national strike action is not inevitable and concentrated talks between Royal Mail and the CWU [Communication Workers Union] are continuing to take place."
