Credit card fraudsters "getting more creative"
Credit card fraudsters are becoming increasingly creative as a result of the ongoing effects of the global credit crunch, it has been suggested.
Credit card fraudsters "getting more creative"
Kerry D'Souza, card fraud expert from marketing services business CPP, explains this means such individuals are adopting "more desperate" methods of obtaining people's personal information and accessing their funds.
These include the cloning of chip and pin machines, as well as online credit card fraud.
She notes both domestic and international criminals perpetrate such offences.
"It is obviously a lot easier for overseas gangs to use cards online on UK websites," the CPP representative concludes.
Ms D'Souza makes her comments following the publication of CPP's annual Card Fraud Index earlier this month.
It suggested more than a quarter (26 per cent) of Brits have been victims of such activity, with just under half (42 per cent) of those defrauded only becoming aware of the matter when their bank told them.
