Credit card 'essential holiday item' says four in ten Brits
Four in ten Brits consider their credit card an essential holiday item, according to recent research by Abbey credit cards.
The credit card provider carried out a survey to discover which items Brits consider to be holiday essentials.
A camera was deemed the top essential item according to the study, with 65% of those polled saying they could not do without one on holiday.
As well as credit cards, sunglasses and swimwear were considered vitally important items to remember.
The study also discovered that cameras and swimwear were also the two items accidently left at home by the most Brits last year.
Callum Gibson, head of credit cards at Abbey, explained: "Holiday packing often falls to the last minute because of more pressing pre-holiday tasks, making it only too easy to inadvertently leave essential items at home."
The credit card provider estimates that around £1 billion is spent by Brits replacing items they have left at home.
Abbey recommends the Zero credit card with no foreign exchange fee, which could make holiday spending less expensive.
Saga's platinum credit card also has no foreign currency charge on transactions within the Visa Europe region and 1% out of the area.
