Competitive credit card deals can currently be found on the market, according to a personal finance information provider.

Michelle Slade, analyst at Moneyfacts.co.uk, said that 0% balance transfer deals available for 16 months and 0% introductory purchase deals for 12 months can still be found.

However, the analyst warned that: "Only those with exemplary credit histories are likely to be accepted for the best deals."

Ms Slade's comments come as Tesco launched a new credit card offering 0% on purchases for 12 months.

The interest-free period has been extended from six months for customers applying online.

Clubcard credit card holders will also receive five Clubcard points for every £4 spent at Tesco on the credit card. One point will be issued for every £4 spent elsewhere.

Points can be turned into airmiles as well, with £2.50 in Clubcard vouchers giving card holders 60 airmiles.
