Credit card advice: Do not let the postal strikes act as an ID fraud smokescreen
CreditExpert has recommended that card holders make sure their credit card bills arrive on time.
Any bills that do not arrive should be reported to card providers as this could be an indication of account takeover fraud rather than due to the postal strike.
According to CreditExpert, fraudsters can steal or redirect mail and then obtain personal information about credit card holders.
A backlog of undelivered post is the perfect smokescreen for fraudsters to hide behind, the organisation warned.
Darryl Bowman from CreditExpert commented: "In particular look out for your credit card bills arriving when you expect them to: if your account has been taken over then the bill will probably stop coming as the fraudster will have changed your address on the account."
In related news, credit card holders have been warned of a scam where a fraudulent email is sent claiming to be HM Revenue and Customs and offering a tax refund.
