According to Barclaycard, 88 per cent of those who use the credit cards believe that they save time when making payments for small items such as a cup of coffee.
A total of 98 per cent of those asked said they found the cards easy to use.
Amer Sajed, managing director of UK cards at Barclaycard, said: "Barclaycard is leading the UK's contactless payment revolution. In three years we will have an additional four million customers who will be able to make payments using their contactless card."
According to Barclaycard, there are currently almost two million cards in circulation that can be used to make contactless payments.
