CaxtonFX stated that some online and high street currency exchange deals can be expensive and uncompetitive.
Using a bank card may also be quite pricey as most cards have an average of a 2.75% foreign exchange markup, the prepaid card provider added.
ATM withdrawals abroad can often cost from £1 to £1.75 per transaction, it said.
A prepaid currency card, on the other hand, has no overseas ATM fees or commission and can be topped up and used like a debit or credit card, CaxtonFX said.
The card provider has also teamed up with Hotel Club to offer a 15% hotel booking on any hotels listed on Hotelclub.co.uk for those with a currency card.
Discounts are also available on SIXT holiday cards.
Prepaid currency cards are also available from FairFX and MyTravelCash.
