People with Tesco Clubcard credit cards will not pay a cash advance on foreign exchange if they buy currencies from Tesco Travel Money, according to the provider.

The news comes as research by Tesco Travel Money found a third of Brits intend to spend less on their holidays this year.

For those wanting to save money on vacation, Eastern European countries offered the best bargains, while destinations working out the most expensive were revealed as Reykavik, Rome and Nice.

Tesco Travel Money revealed staying at home to save money might not be the best cost-saving solution.

Holiday expenses such as accommodation and car hire for a family of four were found to be £1,038 for a week in Bulgaria, £452 less than a week in Brighton.

Despite this, just 7% or Brits said they were planning to visit a non-Euro country such as Bulgaria, whereas 34% said they intended to stay in the UK.

The Tesco Clubcard credit card currently offers a typical rate of 16.9% APR variable.

Cardholders pay 0% interest on all purchases for 12 months from the date on which the account is opened, and 0% on balance transfers fro six months from account opening, with a 2% fee on balances transferred in the first four months.
