Card fraud gang exposed
The company linked to an undercover credit card fraud probe has vowed action will be taken to stop future card crime.
Symantec corporation was informed by the BBC this week that a criminal gang was selling UK credit card details, some of which it believed had been stolen from an Indian call centre the company used.
As part of the investigation, BBC reporters posed as fraudsters and bought names, addresses and valid credit card details from a Delhi-based man at a cost of $10 (£6.88) a card.
Symantec has told the news source the leak has been identified and removed.
In a statement it added: "We are investigating how this incident happened and will take any appropriate steps to address any opportunities for improvement in our processes."
Gordon Brown is also stepping up efforts to reduce card crime.
He unveiled a National Fraud Strategy as part of a government package to protect credit card holders earlier this week.
