Capital One toasts diversity ranking
Credit card provider Capital One is celebrating after being named among the top companies for diversity.
The finance firm appeared at number 25 on DiversityInc Magazine's 2009 countdown of the 50 businesses that show the greatest commitment to the concept.
Among the initiatives that helped secure Capital One's place on the table was a mentoring scheme for women- and minority-owned businesses through a supplier diversity programme.
In addition, the company boasts flexible work solutions aimed at supporting different work styles and enabling work-life integration.
Rob Keeling, vice president of diversity at Capital One, said: "We strive to provide a culture where every associate feels valued, supported and connected, so that every associate can contribute to the success of our company.
"Our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends out into the communities we serve," he added.
Mastercard also made the list, appearing in 41st place for schemes such as the provision of competitive benefits for same-sex partners of employees, adoption assistance, alternative workplace solutions and family medical leave.
