Brits urged to 'take control' of their finances
UK credit card holders have been urged to take control of their finances and not bury their head in the sand.
Martin Bamford, chartered financial planner at Informed Choice, claimed that many people in financial difficultly choose to ignore the situation rather than tackle it head on.
He said: "The main message we've got to take into consideration is you've got to take control. It is quite a scary prospect especially when you're that worried about money to tear off the sticky plaster and get on with it.
"Take control and address the situation you are in."
Mr Bamford added that many consumers fear their financial predicament is worse than it actually is and should therefore get their finances in order to quickly ascertain their current situation.
His comments follow those made by Credit Action's CEO Michelle Highman, who claimed that Brits must change their budgeting attitudes in order to ensure financial security in later life.
