Bloggers react to MySpace credit card venture
Social networking site MySpace has received a mixed response to news it is teaming up with Citi to launch a new credit card.
Most bloggers have welcomed its manifesto of rewarding consumers with points for making responsible choices instead of overspending.
Donating to charity and recycling are just two areas where cardholders in the Generation Forward campaign can reap dividends.
However, writing on walletpop.com, one blogger notes: "The card has a starting APR of 14.24% which is high even for a student with limited credit history.
"As a comparison, the same Citi Forward card without a MySpace logo carries an APR of 12.24%, which is still high but a full 2% less than that of the MySpace card."
Nevertheless, the writer accepts the provider will lower cardholder's APR by .25% for every three months that bills are paid on time and are under the credit limit.
Other branded credit cards released recently include designer Roberto Cavalli's Mastercard-affiliated plastic.
