Begin 2012 with a financial review
Brits urged to analyse their financial situation in January
Britons have been urged to start the year by getting their finances order rather than avoiding their debt levels.
In an interview with the Daily Express, Karen Barrett from financial advice service unbiased.co.uk expressed her belief that the beginning of the year is the perfect time for UK consumers to look at ways in which to improve their financial situation.
"The new year should be about looking forward and starting afresh," she told the news provider.
"A complete financial review can help you to get focused and back on track."
One particular drain on finances could be unnecessary direct debits such as gym memberships and magazine subscriptions that are no longer in use.
Mel Kenny from independent financial adviser Radcliffe & Newlands told the newspaper that "big savings" could be achieved if Brits were to go through your bank statements with a fine-toothed comb and see what unnecessary outgoings they have each month.
