Credit card holders are being warned by Humberside police to be vigilant following reports of a scam where bogus callers ask for people's credit card and bank details.
According to the Driffield Post, victims are called by somebody pretending to be from a bank.
The bogus caller then tells the victim that they owe money to the bank and ask for their credit card or bank details to pay the money back.
A similar scam has also taken place in North Yorkshire and Shropshire, suggesting that it is important for homeowners around the country to be on their guard against giving out bank and credit card details.
Humberside police warned residents to be wary of people who approach them on the street, telephone or knock on the door, especially if what they are offering appears too good to be true.
The police force also urges anyone to report any suspicious behaviour to help prevent these crimes.
