Contactless technology also makes it easier and faster to pay for goods, 88% of those surveyed agreed.
The comments were made in response to news that RBS and MasterCard are to trail contactless payments in Boots stores across London and Liverpool.
Amer Sajed, managing director of UK cards at Barclaycard, said: "Contactless is the future of payments and we are pleased to see that other card issuers and retailers are following our lead in the market."
Barclaycard has thousands of terminals accepting contactless payments throughout the UK, including Prêt A Manger, Coffee Republic, EAT and Yo! Sushi.
UK payments association Apacs has said previously that contactless payment systems will be good for businesses as they could cut down queuing times.
