Barclaycard has welcomed guidelines from the government to prevent criminals abusing contactless mobile payments.
The credit card provider is currently trialing mobile payments which will allow consumers to purchase items without entering their pin using their contactless debit or credit card or mobile.
According to Barclaycard, it has been working with Orange this year on making mobile payments a reality for millions of customers.
The government has implemented guidelines stating any transaction above the maximum contact payment value will have to be verified with a pin code.
Contactless payment technology is currently available with some Barclaycard platinum, OnePulse and Goldfish credit cards.
Those who have the credit cards can pay for items under £10 at stores such as Pret A Manger, EAT and National Trust without having to enter their pin.
