Barclaycard has struck a deal this week to take over from Nationwide as the main sponsor of the Mercury Prize.
The credit card provider inked a four-year commitment to the prestigious awards, with funding effective immediately.
In addition, the company will also establish monthly live music events to be held at the Hospital Club in Covent Garden, entitled Barclaycard Mercury Prize Sessions.
Paul Troy, head of advertising and sponsorship at Barclaycard, maintained the firm is "delighted" to be part of the industry prize-giving event, won by Elbow in 2008.
Meanwhile, Dan Ford, director of marketing for the Mercury Prize, said: "It's fantastic news that Barclaycard have shown this long-term commitment to supporting British music through this sponsorship.
"Their innovative and cutting-edge values make them an ideal partner for the Mercury Prize."
In other sponsorship news, Mastercard announced earlier this week it is to back the Eden Project's Big Lunch initiative on July 19th, aimed at encouraging a return to community values.
