Barclaycard launches first contactless corporate card
Barclaycard has launched the first corporate bank card featuring contactless payment technology in the UK.
The credit card giant has announced that all corporate cards issued from today (5th December) will be contactless-enabled, offering companies the chance to track smaller transactions which are currently made by employees using cash.
Cardholders will be able to pay for goods of up to £15 by simply holding their over a special reader.
Dennis Bauer, managing director of global commercial payments at Barclaycard, said: "Contactless will enable businesses to track smaller transactions which are currently often made with cash.
"This gives businesses greater control over expenses as well as providing corporate customers an efficient and secure payment experience at the point of purchase."
Mr Bauer added that the firm will continue to invest in technology to make businesses commercial payments easier for its customers.
Since 2007, Barclays and Barclaycard have issued over 14 million contactless debit and credit cards for consumers and put contactless terminals in more than 55,000 retailers.
