More Barclaycard credit card holders will be able to use contactless technology, it has been revealed.
The leading payment provider as announced that the technology will now be available to Barclaycard Gold and Classic credit card holders.
Contactless credit cards allow consumers to pay for goods costing £10 or less without having to enter a pin number or write their signature.
It is hoped the new system will save credit card holders time.
According to research from the payment provider, 98 per cent of contactless credit card holders believe the contactless payment system is easy to use.
Amer Sajed, managing director of Barclaycard UK cards, said: "In three years we will have an additional four million customers who will be able to make payments using their contactless card."
Barclaycard already has nearly two million contactless credit cards in circulation. Boots recently announced that it would be trialing the contactless payment system.
