New figures from Barclaycard have shown the highest number of debit and credit card payments were processed on the last Saturday before Christmas.

On 21st December at 12.48 pm, shops experienced a lunchtime rush, with as many as 370 transactions being processed every second.

Barclaycard is currently offering a credit card designed for those wishing to improve their credit rating.

This could be the perfect credit card for those planning to make a New Year's resolution to strengthen their rating in 2010.

Called Barclaycard Initial, the credit card has a typical variable rate of 27.9% APR.

It comes with contactless payment technology, making payments of £10 or under quick and easy.
