Bank card theft blamed for £900 Scottish haul
Credit card crime is back in the spotlight after a Scottish court last week found a Filipino man guilty of stealing nearly £1,000.
Isidro Quadalquiver was sentenced at Inverness Sheriff Court after he accepted he had stolen money using a bank card and personal identification number, the Press and Journal reports.
He used the card to take £900 from cash machines in Nairn, in the Scottish Highlands.
The offence was committed over three days in January, with Mr Quadalquiver stealing £300 on each occasion.
It happened just weeks after a warning by the international marketing services business CPP, which advised consumers to take extra care with their personal information when using credit cards to shop online.
Identity theft manager Danny Harrison explained individuals "quite happily" give out details such as name, address and date of birth, which could potentially be used by fraudsters.
