Figures released this morning revealed that more than 50 credit card providers are offering 0% balance transfer credit cards.

This will be welcome news for anyone with a credit card, who is currently in the market for a better deal.

Moneynet.co.uk, an online finance portal, said that while the number of 0% balance transfer credit cards had fallen in the past 12 months, there were still 52 available in August.

The message to consumers would appear to be: shop around for the best credit card deals, because despite the wariness of lenders, attractive offers are still out there.

Borrowers with a good credit record should have no problem finding a credit card with a reasonable repayment rate and even a balance transfer deal.

Those with a bad credit rating may need to turn to a specialist credit card provider.
