Balance transfer credit cards 'could require maths'

Online resource Credit Card Whiz Kid explains not all circumstances are the same - and neither are credit cards, even if they are the same type.

As such, the site recommends consumers take their own individual needs into consideration before making a decision on which card is right for them.

It states some card providers charge a fee to transfer a balance, while others do not. In addition, some cards have different interest-free periods attached to them, meaning consumers should look into how long it will take them to repay their debts.

"If you can do it within six months to a year, a balance transfer card with a zero-percent 12-month promotional offer will probably be the best balance transfer credit card for you," the site concludes.

Online resource Fool.co.uk recently praised the Virgin Money Credit Card for its lengthy interest-free period on balance transfers.
