Tesco and Sainsbury's are both have some attractive financial products on offer including credit cards with reward schemes, according to a financial website that aims to help consumers manage their money more successfully.
Ed Bowsher, head of personal finance at lovemoney.com, said people are being encouraged to take out financial products such as credit cards with retailers rather than traditional banks because of the quality of products on offer.
Distrust of traditional banks could also be a contributing factor, he continued.
Mr Bowsher said he thought the latest credit card deal from Tesco is a very good offer.
"With all your purchases on that card, even if they are not at Tesco, you'll be earning Club Card points. Even without the Club Card angle, you can get 0%. When you first take out the card, there's an introductory 12 month 0% on purchases period." He explained.
He said it was also a good deal in terms of balance transfers and the 0% on purchases that is currently being offered.
Mr Bowsher's comments come as Sainsbury's Finance released research revealing 70 per cent of those polled said they would consider taking out a money product, such as a credit card, with a supermarket if they felt they were being suitably rewarded.
