Are credit cards a festival essential?

With festivals like T in the Park and Glastonbury on the horizon, many music fans will be starting to think about trip essentials like tents and wellies - but are they thinking about credit cards?

More than 1.3 million attendees will have to borrow cash from their friends this summer so that they can continue to enjoy themselves, according to new research from Barclays Group.

Over half of the festival-goers will need to turn to their pals due to bad budgeting, and almost a quarter will need the financial aid after becoming a victim of theft.

Borrowing between friends can result in tension and potentially ruin the fun, but Brits may be able to circumvent the issue by applying for a credit card.

Those who take along a piece of plastic for emergencies, keeping it separate from their cash, might have somewhere reliable to turn if they find themselves running low on funds.

With essential expenses like drinks (£32.67), food (£28.67) and showers (£7.11) to pay for, having this kind of insurance policy in place could be a major help.
