American Express to webcast meetings

American Express is opening up its meetings to public scrutiny by launching a live audio webcast next week.

The credit card provider plans to host streaming of its investor conference call on Thursday (April 23rd) at 17:00 (ET), which can be accessed on the company's website.

A copy of the first quarter 2009 earnings release and supplement will be available prior to this at the same address for those interested.

In addition, American Express has also lined up a similar initiative for its annual meeting of shareholders the following week (April 27th).

Taking place at 10:00 (ET), a replay of the meeting will be available for listening later that evening.

In related news, the credit card provider recently unveiled a new tool to help manage spending on small meetings.

According to Purchasing.com, Small Meetings eXpert allows business people on the move access to a real-time connection to compare and book guest rooms, meeting spaces, audio-visual equipment and catering services.
