American Express platinum and other cashback credit cards 'could save holders money in New Year'

This is one way in which it may be possible to save money in the New Year, the Daily Mail suggests.

Another tip it offers to credit card holders to save cash in 2010 is getting a credit card that offers cashback on spending, or vouchers.

The newspaper recommends using this credit card for all shopping and setting up a direct debit to pay the bill in full every month.

One credit card that offers cashback is the American Express platinum cashback credit card.

This offers users 5% cashback for the first three months up to £100. After this, cardholders get up to 1.25% with no limit on how much they can earn.

The typical variable rate on the card is 19.9% APR.
