Almost 2m Brits 'keep extravagant purchases from their partner'
According to research from credit card provider Sainsbury's Finance, almost two million Brits admit to not telling their spouse about extravagant purchases.
The credit card provider suggested that this could be due to the economic downturn which is fuelling concerns over personal finance matters.
According to Sainbury's Finance's research, a total of 1.75 million people are hiding some debt from their partner, and 1.92 million admit to hiding big or extravagant buys, made on their credit card or other payment method, from their loved one.
The study found that 3.88 million people described the current health of their financial as awful.
Karen Horsburgh, head of Sainsbury's Money Matters, said: "The current economic climate is only exacerbating many people's personal financial concerns and our research highlights that there is a huge temptation to stick your head in the sand and hope it all goes away.
"However, if you have money worries the best course of action is to tackle any financial concerns head on and seek advice on how to start rectifying the situation."
