Abbey claims best card on the market
A new 0% balance transfer credit card is the best deal currently on the market, its provider maintains.
Abbey insists that at 15 months, consumers will benefit from the longest balance transfer period on the high street.
It also provides an ongoing APR of 15.9%, which should help users control their spending better in the economic downturn, Abbey's managing director of credit cards, Roger Lovering, has claimed.
He said: "People are having to manage their finances more carefully and from talking to our customers it became clear that current priorities are very much about good financial management and value for money."
Both Virgin Money and HSBC also offer 15-month balance transfer deals, but their typical APRs of 16.6% and 16.9% do not match the Abbey card.
According to the bank's website, consumers could save over £800 by transferring their balances to the new credit card.
A 3% handling fee applies.
