A good credit score 'can lead to a great card deal'
Equifax states there are a number of things consumers can do to improve their credit score and explains what type of things a lender may be on the lookout for.
A spokesman for the credit information provider said there are a number of factors that make up an individual score and in general, credit card providers will be looking for people who are consistent.
Neil Munroe, external affairs director for Equifax, said the current economic climate may have forced some lenders to tighten their criteria, but there are some good deals available for many.
"Basically, the better an individual's credit score, the better the rate they will get - helping them take advantage of the best deals," he added.
Equifax scores individuals based on points for credit repayments that are made on time. Those looking to check their status can do so by visiting the firm's site.
