When making large purchases, a total of 14% of people put it on their credit card or store card and worry about it later, according to a new survey released by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P).

The credit card provider's research also showed if people have to find money in a hurry, 4% would increase the limit on their credit card.
Over half would dip into their savings, 6% would buy a lottery ticket, and 20% would talk to their bank or building society about an overdraft or loan.
Following the release of the survey, the credit card provider is releasing a series of guides to finance for various stages of life, including when having children and when planning for work and retirement.
N&P is also currently offering a credit card with a rate of 15.9% APR typical variable.
Credit card holders also benefit from 0% on card purchases for three months from the day on which an account is opened.
